Puggles are one of the most popular mixed breeds available, and why not? These dogs are super cute, energetic, and they are the perfect size. Learn more about them below:
The Origins of Puggles
Puggles were first discovered in the late 1980’s when breeders began experimenting for designer dogs. The colors of Puggles are typically fawn, tan or black. Since Puggles are a designer breed they are not recognized as a breed in the United Kennel Club, American Kennel Club or the Canadian Kennel Club.
Puggle Personalities
Are you looking for a lap dog, not a 70lb dog that thinks he is a lap dog, which will fit perfectly draped over you? At 15-30lbs, Puggles are perfect to keep you company as you read the paper on Sunday mornings, or snuggle up with you on the couch for family movie night.
Puggles are fun loving dogs that love to play and go on walks or short runs. They also have an easy to maintain short coat. A weekly brushing will definitely do the trick as well as a quick bath monthly to keep them smelling fresh and clean.
One concern that many dog owners have is (if you already have a dog) if they will do well with one another. Puggles tend to fair extremely well with other dogs, whether it be in their home or at the park. They are incredibly social beings. They are typically excited to meet new people, dog “friends,” and smell new scents.
